"I enjoy the visual and tactile interplay that occurs between diverse materials. The silky feel of an oiled wood frame in conjunction with cleft-cut slate panel makes for a pleasing marriage of texture, yet is practical at the same time. Likewise, I was attracted to the warm feeling associated with copper combined with wood, arriving at ways in which copper could be used subtly as an accent feature… These are items with a function, items that I can imagine being used for a long time by someone- acquiring the particular wear associated with that person and then being passed on to someone else as a keepsake."
