Creating detailed animal sculptures, Roman has been developing a
reputation for his detail and animated nature of his work which are made from
such materials as silver, gold, precious and semiprecious stones.
Born in Kiev, in the Ukraine, he studied at the Arts Industrial College where
he majored in Artistic Design in Industry. His formative years were spent
developing his refined work in jewelry design, later moving on to the Ukrainian
Artistic Foundation. Although working in the
Monument-Decorative Art Company, he continued to work independently as a
jeweler. He emigrated to the United States in 1993.
Roman is perhaps best known for his intricate thimble to cup size pieces. The
detailed animal sculptures are created with incredible precision and the jewelry
he designs is equally well crafted. Most recently he has developed a series of
cups using the bust of different animals such as a hog and bear. His jewelry
also includes animal imagery, as well as the traditions he took away from the
Ukraine, resulting in unique, well executed designs.
